A change in atmospheric pressure can cause a change in bone, muscle, and tendon contractions, which can add to your spinal pain.

- Stay well hydrated: A hot summer can quickly dehydrate the spongy discs that support your spine. Drink water at least once or twice an hour on hot and humid days, and more if you exercise outside.
- Daily movement: Too much sitting, or a sedentary lifestyle, can harm your lower back and overall health, so get up and move. Swimming, biking, yoga, and walking are good spine-friendly exercises.
- Hot and cold therapy: Lower back pain can be relieved by applying cold or heat. In addition to relieving pain, heat can improve blood flow and relax muscles. To relieve stiff muscles and soreness, use cold gel packs or ice.
- Prioritize sleep: Longer days with more light can often have us staying up later. Not getting enough zzz’s can contribute to pain. Sleep deprivation can prevent your body from producing essential anti-inflammatory compounds.
